Individual parking spaces
It may be that you have one parking space at the back of the shop premises that you rent and that it is essential that it is not used by others .You will need it for offloading goods, or parking your own vehicle during shop opening hours. The quickest method to protect this space is use a bollard that can only be opened by a key. The bollard is set on a flat base that is screwed to the ground, and then the pole or bollard is held in place by a pivot bar. When it is upright it will institute a locking mechanism that will secure the pole in the upright position. It can only be released with a key. This is much better than the old chain and lock system, as so often the chain was just cut and then anybody could park in your space.
Office Parking
A barrier that could be raised up and down by the use of a remote control or a digital keypad often protected this. Whilst in principal these were effective, vandalism meant that they were more often inoperative than operative as vandals broke the barriers. They have now in a lot of cases been replaced by either a ramp in the ground that you need to lower through a number on a digital keypad, or a series of bollards that are sunk into the ground. These bollards, which are raised above ground level when a vehicle is not passing, can be lowered by the use of a sensor pad. The driver will present a card to the sensor pad and the bollard will lower to ground level and the vehicle may pass. If there is a vehicle immediately behind who believes there is an opportunity to enter quickly he will find the bollard will sense this and pass through the floor of his vehicle.
