Online wine bloggers told to use the source

Online wine writing should be about finding the true source of information about the drink, according to the organisers of an upcoming annual conference.

The European Wine Bloggers’ Conference 2012 is due to be held in Turkey – which wine marketing agency Vrazon says some believe is the original source of domestic wine cultivation.
Online wine writers who attend are to follow two themes throughout the event; the first, ‘freshly sourced’, urges them to be original in their writing, while the second, ‘resourceful traveller’, looks at online wine writing as a pilgrimage.
For those who have a passion for wine, blogging about it is a chance to raise little-known grapes or regions to wider public attention.

Particularly good grape harvests can receive the attention and praise they deserve, as can up-and-coming wineries.

In many cases, blog posts can hint at pilgrimages of the writer’s own; producers’ globe-trekking as they seek the perfect vineyard, and retailers’ own journeys to find the ideal wine to add to their stock.

The internet is the number one source for finding and drawing upon the expertise of others and it is therefore essential that wine bloggers make it their business to give the very best information to those who are searching for it.
