Overhead Cranes

An overhead crane is a type of crane that is used overhead and is usually placed up high on ceilings or walls in large industrial spaces such as factories and workshops etc. It works with a hook and line mechanism that runs along a horizontal beam. This beam runs along two widely separated rails, these are what will be fixed to the walls or ceiling. Overhead cranes tend to consist of a single or double beam construction depending on the weight that it will be required to lift. An overhead crane will have a hoist to lift the items, a bridge that will span the area covered by the cranes and a trolley to move along the bridge.

There are different manufactures of overhead cranes and many different suppliers where you can purchase them from. New overhead cranes will come with a warranty so if anything fails you will be covered for a period of time. All overhead cranes will be fully tested to ensure they are in full working order and are safe before they are supplied to customers.

Once you have decided on an overhead crane then the company you are purchasing it from will be able to come and assess the area where it will be fitted and carry out all necessary measurements and safety checks to ensure that the overhead crane can be fitted with no problems. You are likely to need a bespoke product when it comes to overhead cranes as it will need to fit the exact specifications of the building. An overhead crane company will work to create you a crane that utilises the buildings space to its full potential. There are a number of optional extras for overhead cranes some of which you may need. These include cab/radio control, full maintenance and part service platforms, pendant encompassed weight and hoist operation monitoring, special paint finishes, safety line systems and weatherproofing.
