What is Pet Travel?
Many care as to how our pets will cope if they have to travel and we are not with them. How can we ensure that we offer them the best and that we will know that they are OK? What if they start pining on the journey? What if they are sick? How can I be sure they will have food and water? There is an answer to all these problems.
Stop worrying
Today there are companies that offer a service to transport your pet to anywhere in Europe and possibly within the UK depending on availability. The company will look after your pet on the whole journey and the pet will never be left without a human companion. The pet can be whatever you wish and for instance maybe a dog, cat, rabbit, parrot or snake. The process will begin with you as the owner introducing the carrier’s personnel to the pet so that a bonding or familiarity may take place. If it is a dog then he or she will need to be fed and watered on the journey as well as being walked. It will be that much easier if the dog knows that you can be trusted.
What is needed?
For a pet to be able travel abroad it is necessary that the pet is examined by your vet to ensure that all the relevant rules and regulations are followed. Whilst the pet carriers will be able to give you some advice on these issues the responsibility lies with you so take the appropriate advice. If the pet is refused exit from the UK or indeed entry into the UK then you and your pet will suffer.
Why transport you pet this way?
Place you pet in a cargo hold, in a crate that he or she is unfamiliar with and the stress levels increase. There will be the noise of the plane, no humans and a sense of ‘where am I”. You may have to sedate your pet but if you use the vehicle transport the chances are that you pet will be more comfortable and will arrive at the correct destination well and fit and on a door-to-door basis.
