CAD systems are now so complex that training is necessary.
Training
It is now almost impossible to buy professional software and understand all its applications without some form of professional training. The basic software that we all have on our computers is complex for a lot of people so when faced with multifunctional software that you will use in front of clients you need to ensure that you are proficient. Training can be on a one–to-one basis, in a classroom atmosphere or on-line. The method of training will be whatever is best for you but you should be trained by a person who has been certified by the writers of the software.
Training method
Training should be measured over a period of time as the complexity of the software means that you should be given time to build up your familiarity with the functions of the software at each stage of learning.
The training should be structured into foundations, concepts and techniques. The foundation training will give you an understanding of the elemental functions and thus will set you up for the more complex applications. If you do not get this session properly under your belt then you will struggle further on.
Concepts will allow you to see the overall picture of the software and will allow you to apply it correctly to your profession. Some software will be designed for particular professions but some will be generalist and thus knowing what the software package contains and how to maximise the benefit is essential.
Techniques will give you the ability to show a client how an image will look. You will be able to change the appearance of say a building with a porch to on without in the push of a button.
The software will be costly but if you view this as an investment in promoting your business and allowing you to appear more professional you will need to invest in good quality training to capitalize in selling your skills.
